AGV Towbar Design Requirements for Assembly Tugger Trains

Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are standard in smart factories. Connecting heavy-duty folding carts to AGV tuggers requires custom-engineered coupling towbars.

1. Spring-Loaded Drawbars

Standard rigid drawbars transfer mechanical shock directly to the AGV motor. We specify spring-cushioned drawbars that absorb starting torque smoothly.

2. Auto-Upright Return Systems

When decoupled, towbars must automatically snap upright via torsion springs to prevent tripping hazards in pedestrian lanes.

3. Turning Radius Geometry

The length of the towbar and caster offset must be calculated to prevent tracking drift during tight turns.
